It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Sister Bernie Kenny, our beloved founder and guiding light at St. Mary’s Health Wagon.
Sister Bernie’s dedication to serving the underserved in Central Appalachia was nothing short of extraordinary. Her leadership, rooted in compassion and faith, transformed countless lives, and her legacy will continue to inspire us for generations to come.
For over four decades, Sister Bernie worked tirelessly to bring healthcare to those in need, often reaching the most remote and vulnerable. Her life was a testament to the power of love and selflessness.
She showed us all what it means to fight for the dignity and health of others, reminding us that even the smallest acts of kindness can change lives.
As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate her remarkable life and the impact she has had on our community. At the Health Wagon, we remain committed to carrying forward her mission.
Her profound impact will forever be felt in the lives she touched and the prayers she offered. We take solace in the belief that she now gathers at the feet of Jesus, continuing to pray for us all.
Go rest high on that mountain, Sister Bernie. Your warmth, kindness, and dedication to others will be cherished forever.
A funeral service will take place this week to honor Sister Bernie’s life. In lieu of flowers, her family kindly requests that donations be made to the Medical Missionaries of Mary, her cherished religious order.
