The Health Wagon, the region’s only safety net clinic/free clinic, recently celebrated its inaugural Patient Christmas Party on Nov. 13 at the Smiddy Clinic in Wise, Virginia. A total of 357 individuals were impacted by this event. The United Breast Cancer Foundation donated all of the hygiene items, clothing and adult coats for the event along with 65 new Tempur-Pedic mattresses. The Aetna Foundation, the independent charitable and philanthropic arm of Aetna Inc., gave $5,000 for the event providing funding for hot food, food boxes for patients and children’s coats.
