Move Mountains Medical Mission (M7) is honored to announce that Dr. Benjamin Carey will be joining the July 18-19 Health Outreach event at the Health Wagon in Wise, Va. to provide free psychiatric evaluations and mental health support services to those in need.
Dr. Carey is a deeply respected and compassionate psychiatrist whose commitment to rural health goes far beyond physical wellness. With years of experience serving underserved populations, his presence will bring much-needed mental health support to our region—especially in the wake of recent natural disasters such as Hurricane Helene, which have left lasting emotional and psychological impacts on mountain communities.
Dr. Carey specializes in treating a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and substance use disorders (SUD). Recognizing that healing must be holistic, he has long championed the integration of mental and physical health services. His approach to care is rooted in empathy, dignity, and the belief that every individual deserves access to quality mental health care without stigma.
Through his continued work with the Health Wagon, Dr. Carey has not only met immediate psychological needs, but has also helped build lasting resilience, empowering patients to navigate recovery with strength and support.
“Mental health is just as vital as physical health,” said Health Wagon CEO, Dr. Teresa Tyson, DNP, FNP-BC. “Dr. Carey’s compassionate approach ensures that every patient is seen, heard, and supported.”
We encourage anyone struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, or other mental health challenges to visit the M7 event and take advantage of these services. The Health Wagon remains committed to making comprehensive care accessible to all, and we are grateful for providers like Dr. Carey who share that mission.
